Silver Grippers remove splinters, slivers, ticks, threads, hairs, stingers, prickers, and more. Ideal for camping, boating, gardening, sewing, wood working/carpentry, machining, first aid, crafts, and more. Great for any parent or child caregiver. They attach to your key ring to always be available when you need them.
Over the years I have had people write in about their stories and how they use them. I have seen beautiful pieces of 3D artwork pictures and stories of tick removals which I only had to do on a family member once (though mine story was not horrifying like theirs! I’m glad the tweezers have worked for them and many others!) Thank you for your stories and continued use of my grandfather’s tweezers!
Heading toward the end of the month there are a few more awareness week events coming up like Allergy Awareness Week and National Infant Immunization Week. To learn more, check out these links:

I found this very interesting and wanted to share. Covid-19 shut California down May 19th, 2020. I sent an international order to Austrailua the day after the shut down. The client did not receive the order, so I sent a replacement which arrived a few weeks later. Just a few days ago (over a full year later) I received the missing tweezer back saying the address was incorrect (which it wasn’t!) This was some kind of error at the postal office, probably a human error. Receiving this tweezer back that had traveled the world first made me laugh and then made me feel compassion. Covid-19 has caused so much stress on people, businesses, etc, causing all kinds of errors and more. I felt like this was just a reminder to slow down and be patient because we can’t control outside factors, we can only control the way we respond to them. Stay safe!
Yesterday interestingly enough marked national pillow fight day! Today is world health day.

March 28, 2021
The crest of this month's full moon falls on the 28th of this month at 18:48 UTC (2:48 p.m. Eastern; translate UTC to your time). This full moon comes just two days before the March 30 lunar perigee, when the moon is swinging into the near part of its orbit with respect to Earth.
This moon on the 28th ranks as the 4th-closest (and therefore 4th-largest and 4th-brightest) of the 12 full moons of 2021.
As the Sliver Grippers have a tick kit, I thought it was fitting to talk a little about the awareness week starting on the 22nd: Tick Bite Prevention Week.
Tick Bite Prevention Week takes place in March each year. Ticks are small bloodsucking parasites that can carry a whole host of dangerous diseases – diseases that can be transmitted to pets and humans. Prevention is the best way to protect your pets and yourself against tick-borne diseases, such as Lyme disease.
A few facts about ticks...
Ticks are active and looking for something to feed on (you and your pet) as soon as the temperature hits 40 degrees.
Ticks transmit Lyme Disease and many other very serious and deadly illnesses.
Ticks can be tiny (too small to see), and they can look like a skin lump on your pet’s body.
Ticks live in wooded areas, tall grass, bushes, or leaves.

It’s Daylight Savings time for the US, but not everywhere in the world (or even the USA for that matter). Keeping in the theme of history lately. Read the interesting facts about Daylight Savings:
Who Started Daylight Saving Time?
The idea of resetting clocks forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin in his essay "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light," which was published in the Journal de Paris in April 1784.
Franklin's suggestion was largely overlooked until it was brought up again in 1907 by Englishman William Willett, who penned a pamphlet called "The Waste of Daylight." Although the British House of Commons rejected Willett's proposal to advance the clock one hour in the spring and back again in autumn in 1908, British Summer Time was introduced by the Parliament in 1916.
Many other countries change their clocks when adjusting to summer time, but the United States only began doing so towards the end of World War I in an attempt to conserve energy. The House of Representatives voted 252 to 40 to pass a law "to save daylight," with the official first daylight saving time taking place on March 15, 1918. This was initially met with much resistance, according Michael Downing, author of the book "Spring Forward: The Annual Madness of Daylight Saving Time."
"When the Congress poked its finger into the face of every clock in the country, millions of Americans winced," Downing wrote. "United by a determination to beat back the big hand of government," daylight saving time opponents "raised holy hell, vowing to return the nation to real time, normal time, farm time, sun time—the time they liked to think of as "God's time.'"
Despite the public outcry, government officials enforced the time change until 1919, and allowed state and local governments to decide whether to continue the practice. It was reinstituted during World War II but, again, after the war the decision fell to the states.
In fact, even when Congress officially made the time change a law under the Uniform Time Act of 1966, it only stated that if the public decided to observe daylight saving time, it must do so uniformly. Hawaii and Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Reservation), still choose not to partake in the convention, as do some U.S. territories, including American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Originally, clocks were sprung forward on the last Sunday in April and turned back on the last Sunday in October, but the Energy Policy Act of 2005 shifted the start of daylight saving time to the second Sunday in March and the end to the first Sunday in November.
Another month on the books for 2021. Check out this website to see what March holds for awareness. Very fitting for the fit: march to health! But there are many more and so many important things to mention. One more I’m going to mention that pertains to the tweezers is “Tick Bite Prevention Week” which is the last week of March in the UK. http://www.whathealth.com/awareness/march.html
Can you believe it is already February again? And almost the end of it for that matter. I had this set to post on the first, but somehow it didn’t post. But, there is still much to come. Take a look at the virtual events coming this week to celebrate Black History Month:

I have to say, we have been selling tick kits for years and never once have I had to use them. I have heard many stories about how effective the Slivers Grippers are for removing ticks, but never had to remove one before. Seeing the legs wiggle as I grabbed them out of my boyfriend’s neck was so disturbing! But, the tweezers got the tick out completely. Many tweezers can break off only part of the tick leaving it still embedded causing more issues and actually more venom to be released. We safely got he tick out and cleaned the bite. All I can think is thank you Grandpa!
I’ve been posting a lot of Awareness Month information. To get involved you can make things or create your own event. For example, incorporate imprinted promotional products and awareness gifts from to commemorate February's monthly events. Personalized umbrellas are great for Umbrella Day, and don't forget heart shaped items for Valentine's Day this Sunday! Branded items and personalized products raise awareness, so ell or gift them at your local park! We are all in this together.
New month and new awarenesses to take note of. Check out this website to learn more, too many to list!

I like posting about an awareness month for many reasons. There is so much going on in the world right now that I like to step outside of myself and learn. Also, with all the stories I have been sent about the tweezers it is nice to know that the tweezers are a helpful kit. The sliver grippers have been used in doctor offices and can help fight against lime disease with out tick kit! One small step, but health is so important, so we do what we can!
Last week of January, here are some national awareness that are left. Thank you to all the front line workers (see first awareness) and notice that there are also virtual events. Click on the links to learn more.
National CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) Week – Last full week in January
Meat Week - Eight Days beginning last Sunday in January
National School Choice Week – Last Week in January
National Cowboy Poetry Gathering Week – Cancelled for 2021, but has virtual events the entire month of January
It’s a new year and a new month which means it’s time to look at the awareness for this month. I’m not sure how I got started on blogging about awareness month, but I feel like it is appropriate with the pandemic. It is always good to check in with ourselves and others. Check this website out for January’s awareness calendar:

The Sliver Grippers were apart of many contests. Some contests were on the radio while others were in the local newspaper. Here is a newspaper one that my aunt’s brother found in the family project of digitizing The Uncle Bill’s journey with the Sliver Grippers!

2021! Remember, there are only a few days left for the holiday special, so take advantage while you can! Best wishes for a new year and new start!
Here is another newspaper clipping from the family project of digitizing The Uncle Bill’s journey with the Sliver Grippers! This one is from 1991.

My aunt and uncle has decided to take on a project of making a family book about the tweezers and The Uncle Bill. Here is a link to a newspaper article about the manufacturing of the tweezers. El Mar has been our manufacturer since 1994 after our past manufacturer retired who worked with my grandfather after Uncle Bill went from making them in his basement to a bigger building. This article is from 1998.
