First Aid Kit

Short and sweet today. Do you own a first aid kit? Tweezers are an important tool to have in any first aid kit regardless of how basic your kit is. Tweezers can be used to remove debris such as glass, dirt, or splinters from a wound. They can also be used to remove stingers left behind by bees. With putting a tweezer on your keychain clip you have your own personal first aid kit with you at all times!

Other Ways To Store The Tweezers

A very cleaver customer who decided not to use the clip for the keychain decided to come up with her own way of storing the tweezers. She used an old chapstick tube. She screwed the "wax" all the way out, pulled carefully and easily removed most of it in one full piece. Then she removed the little piece that holds the "wax" that helps it move up and down in the tube. With a little extra effort with toothpicks, a pointy-chopstick, and a paper towel, she removed the remaining bits of leftover "wax," washed the tube out, and let it air-dry. She left in the center "spindle" that the little piece moves on to bring the "wax" up and down in the tube, using the little "screw cap" on outer bottom of the tube. The “spindle” doesn’t interfere at all and the tweezer fit perfectly. I thought that it was a really neat idea and wanted to share it!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope however you rang in the new year it was just what you wanted. I decided to look up the exact origin of New Years and what it meant for many around the world. What I found was very interesting.

New Year is the time at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar's year count increments by one. Many cultures celebrate the event in some manner. The New Year of the Gregorian Calendar, today mostly in use, falls on 1 January (New Year's Day), as was the case both in the old Roman calendar (at least after about 713 BCE) and in the Julian calendar that succeeded it. The order of months was January to December in the Old Roman calendar during the reign of King Numa Pompilius in about 700 BCE, according to Plutarch and Macrobius, and has been in continuous use since that time. Many countries, such as the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, the UK, and the United States, mark 1 January as a national holiday.

During the Middle Ages in western Europe, while the Julian calendar was still in use, authorities moved New Year's Day variously, depending upon locale, to one of several other days, among them: 1 March, 25 March, Easter, 1 September, and 25 December. These New Year's Day changes generally reverted to using January 1 before or during the various local adoptions of the Gregorian calendar, beginning in 1582. The change from March 25 – Lady Day, one of the four quarter days – to January 1 took place in Scotland in 1600, before the ascension of James VI of Scotland to the throne of England in 1603 and well before the formation of the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707. In England and Wales (and in all British dominions, including Britain's American colonies), 1751 began on March 25 and lasted only for 282 days because of the Calendar (New Style) Act 1750, with 1752 beginning on January 1. For more information about the changeover from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar and the effect on the dating of historical events etc.

A great many other calendars have seen use historically in different parts of the world; some such calendars count years numerically, while others do not. The expansion of Western culture during recent centuries has seen such widespread official adoption of the Gregorian calendar that its recognition and that of January 1 as the New Year has become virtually global. (Note for example the New Year celebrations held in Dubai to mark the start of 2014, which broke the world record for the most fireworks set off in a single display, lasting for six minutes and including the use of over 500,000 fireworks.)

Nevertheless, regional or local use of other calendars persists, along with the cultural and religious practices that accompany them. Many places (such as Israel, China, and India) also celebrate New Year at the times determined by these other calendars. In Latin America the observation of traditions belonging to various native cultures continues according to their own calendars, despite the domination of recently arrived cultures. The most common dates of modern New Year's celebrations are listed below, ordered and grouped by their alignment relative to the Gregorian calendar.

Happy Holidays

I had another post planned, but since today is Christmas and Hanukkah, I thought that I would pause and wish everyone a happy holiday. I love this time of year because it brings people together. I have so many great holiday memories of my grandparents (Uncle Bill) that I will cherish forever. Whether you are with family, friends, or whomever, I hope that today treats you well and the holiday cheer follows you into the new year! Happy holidays!

Brow Maintenance

When it comes to maintaining eyebrows, I'm a big believer in the power of some good ol' tweezers. But if you've ever purchased your own pair from a beauty supply, you might have noticed just how many different types of tweezers there are. (Seriously, who came up with all of these?!)

Even if you're more of a waxer or a threader, there are plenty of other reasons that make it a good idea to have a pair of tweezers around. Whether you just need to touch up around your arch, have an ingrown hair that needs to be artfully plucked, or just need a hand applying a pair of falsies, the right pair of tweezers will easily get the job done. The most important thing is that your tweezer’s tip is made from stainless steel which Uncle Bill’s are. It is 100% stainless steel. Not only will they last longer, but they won't rust and cause irritation when they come in contact with your skin.

The Sliver Grippers with their pin point precision tip will help you pluck the thinnest or shortest of hairs. This style of tweezer is also idea for tweezing ingrown hairs, and of course for removing splinters. And if you're into nail art, the pinpoint-tip will help grab and place small rhinestones or decals!

Most Inventive ways to use tweezers part 2 of 2

Keyboard Cleaning

Keyboards are notorious for getting messy over time. Between dust, dead skin cells, and the remnants of the snacks that we munch on at the desk, there is a good chance that your keyboard is full of stuff that could be impeding its use. For this reason, tweezers can be super helpful since pulling the keyboard apart to clean it isn’t always the best, or most possible, option, and no one wants to run out to the store to get a new keyboard every time theirs gets dirty. As such, using tweezers to get into the tiny spaces can have a great effect on keyboard longevity and cleanliness.

Plate Perfect

It’s no big secret that top name chefs keep a few pair of tweezers in the kitchen, but most people don’t think about doing the same thing. Sure, the normal mean doesn’t often call for an elaborate setup, but once and awhile you might be looking for the perfect plating, and to do that, you need detail. Tweezers can help precisely place foods and decorations on baked goods or just plates, making the presentation absolutely perfect, rather than just alright.

Detangler

We’ve all had that favorite necklace that manages to get tangled up into a huge, knotted mess. And we’ve all had that hour-long (or more!) period of pure frustration as we try to use our much too large fingers to try to get the delicate jewelry to untangle. It’s difficult, and for some, giving up is the much simpler and stress relieving option, sadly. If you have a pair of tweezers around though, you don’t have to worry about that at all. Instead, use the tweezers and a needle to hold the chain and pull gently to loosen the knot. Once you get it a bit loose, you can hold the chain with your hands and pull the knot out with the tweezers.

Electronics

If you’ve ever worked with smaller electronics, like when you are building your own computer or similar tasks, having small hands is really beneficial. At the same time, not everyone who wants to build electronic devices has small hands, and those of us who fall into that category know how troublesome it can be to try to get anything done in a timely manner if you’re spending a ton of time fighting with the small screws and pieces that you have to work with. Enter in the tweezers. As an extension of your hand, these little tools give you the ease and ability needed to build what you are building easily and without the frustration. Just use them as you would use your finger and thumb to pick things up and place them precisely.

Eggshell Removal

For those of us out there that love to cook, eggs can be one of the biggest points of frustration out there. The shells, being brittle and easily breakable, have a really hard time keeping it together when you want to get the egg into the bowl without it. Little bitty pieces of shell can often fall in there, and they aren’t always totally simple to get out. Thankfully, having a pair of kitchen tweezers can go a long way here. Just use them to grab the bits of shell and you’re good to go!

Having more than one pair of tweezers around your house it generally considered a good idea by the experts. Not only can you use them for the normal stuff that you’d consider using them for, but you can also do some pretty amazing stuff with them too.

Most Inventive ways to use tweezers part 1

Un-clog a Drain

One of the most usual things that you can do with tweezers involves uncloging a drain with them. If you have long hair, then this tip is definitely for you. It’s no secret that humans shed hair, and that hair generally is lost in the shower where it ends up in the drain. Instead of letting the drain get stopped up and then having to use some harsh chemical or struggle with a wire hanger, consider using a pair of tweezers instead. Just pull the hair from the drain up using the tweezers and keep doing so until the drain is clear. It’s a time saver and it saves money too!

Holding Nails

I know I’ve hit my thumb or finger more than once when trying to hammer a nail into a wall or a board. It simply is a hazard associated with building with nails and other tools. Or is it? Instead of using your hands, or any of the expensive nail holding gadgets that are out there, just use your trusty tweezers to keep the nail right where you want it to be. It will save you time, energy, frustration, and your fingers and thumbs.

Model Building

If you are into building model cars or planes, or even boats, then you probably have dealt with the frustration that comes from dealing with tiny little plastic parts that get lost easily and aren’t placed without a ton of trouble and detail. There is an easier way though! Instead of trying to shove that little bitty strut into the opening on your own, use a pair of tweezers to get the precise placement for every piece. In the end, it takes less time and you’ll be far happier with the more detailed and realistic results.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is taking the world by storm, even now. Every time I go to the store, I stroll down the scrapbooking aisle and I see all of the little things that you can put into your scrapbooks to add a specific feel to your pictures and life stories. Many of these things are small embellishments that you either have to sticker, or glue to the paper. And since they are so small, precise placement can often be difficult. Thankfully, we have tweezers, which allow us to put each piece exactly where we want it without fail. Simply grab what you are placing on the page and put it just where you want it. Push down a bit with your finger to ensure that it sticks.

Lint Removal

Lint and dust is everywhere and we all hate it, but sometimes it’s very hard to get rid of. When it builds up in the tiny places in fan blades or hair dryers, it can be more than problematic - it can be a fire hazard. Preventing trouble that could arise from this condition is super simple, as long as you have a good pair of tweezers around. Simply use the tweezers to get into those small places and grab the offending clump of whatever. You might have to go back more than once, but you’ll find that the lint generally pulls off quickly and easily.

Stocking Stuffers

A lot of people have been e-mailing me that they buy the tweezers in bulk for stocking stuffers! I never even thought about that, but I think that is a great idea! I thought that I would share that with you all, just in case you needed any ideas now that the gift giving season is upon us. Happy Holidays everyone!

What are you thankful for?

It’s that time of year again. A time to be thankful for everything that we have in our lives and the possibilities to come. How can tweezers come into what you are thankful for? Well, when you want to place the pecan or topping on your pie this year for Thanksgiving, a tweezer can help with that strategic placement! Tweezers can be great with art projects, cooking, and so many other random fun things! I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving and full stomach with whatever you eat and wherever you are this year. Happy Thanksgiving!

Election Special

Writing this week I have to wonder what Uncle Bill, my grandfather, would have thought about this what is going on with this election. He loved the simple things in life and this election is nothing if not complicated. He was also a big fan of giving back. I am as well, so I thought with this election being the most interesting, dramatic, and nerve wracking election I have ever been a part of, why not give a little something good. For every order I'll throw in a free tweezer. Just place your order and e-mail me with the headline "Election Special" to receive the special. You can also send me your order in the e-mail and I will send you a Paypal invoice.

Happy Halloween

Art projects

Don't want to get glue all over your hands? Use tweezers! You can pick things up and push them into the glue with just the tip of the tweezer. To clean you can wash them in water and they won't rust or wash them with alcohol. Have fun with your kids or your own Halloween project this season while staying clean!

Toddlers and Tweezers

We all know what it was like when we were kids to want to explore. When toddlers starts to walk around they want to get into anything and everything. With the safeguard tip staying securely on your key chain it would be next to impossible for a toddler to poke themselves with it. But what about when you do need to poke them because they have a sliver inhabiting their skin? The benefit of pin point precision tweezers is you can get in and out in the least amount of time and the least amount of picking. Other tweezers won't grip as well and your toddler can only stay still for so long. You want the least painless solution which is my grandfather's tweezers! Be kind to your skin.
